  • Sure, but we have been running the same Linux command line tools now for the 30 years ive been on Linux. None of them have had any noticable bugs and none of them have been replaced, until maybe now recently with some rust versions that are still not default.

They are incredibly actually. We dont have that in software engineering anymore. We add features and bloat to all modern software until it needs to be replaced.

  • If you sort comments by upvotes in your app, you will see what happened as the top comment. But it was a temporary problem, no need to panic for that reason.

But I agree with others, users should spread out to more instances to help keep the fediverse healthy and other instances active. Otherwise we encourage Reddit 2.0.

I have never used lemmy.world myself, because it goes against the fediverse idea to flock together on the same instance.

No its not. But you have that typical personality type in computers. The one who is all facts and data, very logical but very low emotional iq. And sometimes autistic, uncomfortable with default social norms.

That kind of person would put more stats in that screen rather than a picture. Or the picture would be something default, like a loading bar.

I dont see that type dominating the world outside. If you would go outside your door! :)

The real world is also not dominated by furries. However, pedophile, autistic billionaries are leading it into a huge transformation where we will have dystopia.

  • Its true about the updates but its also that Microsoft is now owning your computer.

You are asking them now if its ok to use it to run programs. I dont think people realize how very different it is to run Linux. There is no American corporation running your computer anymore. Thats a huge difference in how the system speaks to you, how it acts, what it lets you do.

I guess most have never experienced that so they dont get it.
