I may not be as fast as you, but yeah it does work. Then again, I’m not using the default launcher.
I only notice it slightly slower on my intel i5 3rd gen machine. Which is exlected.

Is something throttling your CPU ? Have you tried using ALT+F2 to search ? But even if you had not it should be quick to search…
2·1 year agoI use mailspring. Looks slick, it’s open source. Pretty easy to install via flatpak (and soso easy without flatpak)
There is a workaround… But I don’t know how “pretty it is”. You can make a script that listens to the keyboard or the mouse (using evemu for example) and after a period of inactivity it goes xset dpms force off.
It works. It’s not pretty.
