I follow linux news I like hearing about new features and have them come to my system quickly. I’d hate to have to wait years for anything new. I’m not worried about stability, i run nothing critical and if I have an issue I’ll just fix it.

Its a fun little project and I like the little character but it doesnt actually do anything at this point.

Majority of linux users are on a monetized OS. Consultancy, extended service, feature implementation, fast support, donations, merch are all common monetisation methods across major linux distros and there is nothing wrong with any of them.

There are very few distros funded solely by the maintainers they are usually hobby projects.

Which ones dont monetize their OS? Its not that they are uniquely important. Its that its perfectly fine to monetize their own os. They are selling a service that is additional support for users that want it. Pretty simple stuff, you see users asking for this stuff all the time.

Hardware support and working with manufacturers to bring linux support, vendor support bringing mainstream apps to linux, advertising linux laptops and getting it in front of people all around the world, Wayland, gnome, accessibility, a ton shit way to much to list. Just because the improvements are done for Ubuntu doesnt mean they arent useful on other distros. Its free software after all the rising tide lifts all boats. Canonical arent a huge mega corp raking in cash. They cant compare to giants like redhat.

Hack the box is a good place to start. They give you a machine and some guidance. You go through and exploit the vulnerability and complete the box. Slowly you learn more and more about the different layers of security and the different methods of exploiting them.

Its very fun but its quite hard. In my opinion hacking requires a decent base of knowledge. A bit of programming, bit of windows/linux/Mac knowledge, bit of networking, bit of the enterprise stack and application layout.

The point is that people say they dont want AI features. But they really dont want chatbot features and are happy with AI being used for text prediction, translation, text to speech, speech to text, OCR and other useful features. Mozilla set themselves apart by adding these features on device and it was a much appreciated privacy step.

They’ve failed a lot with ai like website building, summerization, tab grouping. But the do need to try otherwise thry wikl always be considered the old browser lacking modern features instead of the bleeding edge trailblazing browser they should be.

SteamOS 3 is arch based but that doesnt mean its anything like arch. It builds from a snapshot of arch and ships that to users as an immutable. So it will be extremely out of date compared to arch.

It does nothing and has been broken for a long time. It can be used for hotkeys but there are none that I use. I only want it to open the start menu. Yes i know I can easily bind it in KDE plasma hotkey menu but i havent gotten around to it yet.
