That was kinda my experience as well when I ran vanilla Arch for a bit, First day was just finding and installing stuff that already came on Endeavour.

After I had an SSD issue had to switch to another drive I didn’t really see grabbing regular Arch again as worth the extra hassle.

What card you using? I have a RTX 3080 and it’s worked fine on Endeavour/KDE (besides Wayland)

I’d obviously prefer if more people gave Linux a try but if you’re literally forced to use Windows then it’s probably your best option right now.

Yeah same here I got zero tolerance with spyware/telemetry and it’s one of the main reasons I switched to Linux in the first place.

Do I believe KDE would misuse my data? Nope not really but it’s not something I want to promote no matter how anonymized the data is or how nicely they ask.

Same rule goes for any project even ones I’ve donated money to.

I got a buddy who switched to EndeavourOS after using Linux Mint for about a year, He said he was too lazy to learn pacman/yay so he spent an hour making fake apt aliases, I forgot what happened but after a while he gave up on it and just got use to pacman.

I’m using SDDM and it lets me select Wayland as an option just fine, Just my Nvidia card won’t load my desktop then.

I’m going full AMD next time I upgrade but that’s gonna be a while away…

I’m still a newbie Linux user so haven’t fully delved into Symlinks…besides bricking a VM trying it once when following a guide.

Can I for instance link a folder where emulators or offline games store save data on my main SSD and have it automatically copied to a folder on my large HDD?

I’ve used Firefox for over a decade but still wouldn’t trust them to keep all my account info on their servers, Especially not nowadays.

I already started using KeypassXC to locally store my passwords, just importing bookmarks and add-ons I’ve left to do.

I might just be basic but the only annoying part of reinstalling for me is setting up my browser again.

Honestly the only people I try to “convert” to Linux are my friends who already hate Windows, which is most of them these days.

Sadly a lot of them either still regularly use programs we can’t get running on Linux yet (okay it’s mostly Fortnite…). Or they’re not the most tech literate people and switching to a whole new OS seems like an impossible task.

Only gotten two peeps on board the Linux train and they both had previous experience with it from school or work.

I haven’t used my Windows drive in almost a year now, Thinking about throwing another distro on there right now.

Bloat is one of the last thing I worry about in a distro honestly, Maybe just because I’m a newer user and compared to Windows 10 out of the box even the most bloated distros seem pretty slim.

I’m definitely not without sin, I still use some services I know damn well don’t give a shit about my privacy.

But I’m using a lot less of those than I did 5 or 10 years ago, So it might be small steps but it’s steps in the right direction and I intend to keep going that way.

I’ve found KDE 6 not too buggy after doing a fresh system install.

I think half the bugs myself and others experience with KDE 6 might be caused by upgrading 5.27 to 6.
