Seriously, how can a huge distro like Fedora still be so horribly user-unfriendly when it comes to basic things like multimedia playback.
I actually switched back to Windows a few weeks ago because I was so tired of all the NVIDIA problems I had on Wayland. A few days later I read that explicit sync finally got merged, lol.
I’m definitely planning on switching back to Linux, but I’m not sure if I’ll do it before getting a new AMD GPU.
How did I not recognize the font I’ve been using for years, lol. Guess it just looks even better on a HiDPI display.
What’s the font?
This has been an issue since NVIDIA introduced alternating frames in the 545 driver. To fix this, explicit sync was recently merged into the Wayland protocol, now all it needs is the merge into Xwayland and the new NVIDIA driver that supports it, which is rumored to be released as a beta around May 15.
Until then, you either have to game on Xorg or use the 535 driver.
Jailbreaks exist and allow stuff like wireshark to run on iOS.
Frontend dev here, can confirm. Last week I had to look at some Java code and was instantly greeted by some AbstractFactoryBuilderImpl. Nightmare fuel if you ask me.
Why use many words when few words do trick?
She’s magnificent!
X11 does support multiple refresh rates. It’s just that usually the compositor or window manager vsyncs every display, thus making everything refresh at the lowest refresh rate. Are you using KDE? If yes, place these variables in /etc/environment and reboot:
KWIN_X11_REFRESH_RATE=144000
KWIN_X11_NO_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1
144/60 works fine for me on X. I only had to disable Vsync for the compositor. Games now run at full 144Hz on my main monitor, and the other two are running perfectly fine at 60Hz.
Though I’m still waiting for the day that I can finally make the jump to Wayland when nvidia support improves (or I have enough money for a new AMD GPU).
Unleash the power of the pyramid!
Gotcha!
Sadly not on NVIDIA hardware :/
Or just
yay
