that was one example of where they are used lol
i agree, it’s time to let the next generation take over, grandpa
it just struck me that LLMs would be so massively improved by simply making them prepend “i think” before every statement, instead of having them confidently state absolute nonsense and then right after confidently state that they were completely incorrect.
you hear that said about AI because companies are desperately throwing more and more resources at it to get 0.3% better results, and people are collectively running an insane amount of prompts all the time.
but on a personal level it’s not really any different from any other computations, people render videos all the time and no one complains about the resource usage from that, because companies aren’t trying to sell bloated video rendering services to gardening businesses.
it’s unclear what the shared secret is.
it’s actually just literally any string you want, but they should tell you that fact in the same paragraph as when it’s relevant…
funnily there’s an… ansible i think? project that makes selfhosting synapse easy as fuck, you basically just go “ansible deploy synapse” or whatever the syntax is and it does almost everything for you.
the documentation is just missing clearly stating that fact, though from what i recall i think that might be said in the config file?
Most CEOs could be automated with a random number generator that runs on a combustion engine fueled by burning dollar bills.
it’s like how techbros constantly want to reinvent transportation, if they assign an AI to give them an answer it would just say “build more railways and trains” and they’d throw it out a window in anger
it’s honestly just magical thinking, like sovereign citizens saying they’re “just travelling, not driving” to magically get around traffic laws, or people in the past murmuring prayers of protection against wolves.
might as well pour a line of salt around your house to protect against the robot invasion!

the fact that there are this many people having different interpretations shows that the license would need waaaaaay clearer wording to hold any sort of water.
this is why i hate licenses like WTFPL and its ilk, just saying “do whatever” cannot possibly be legally viable and thus using anything with such a license is impossible by anyone who cares about copyright law (such as say, companies).
If you want your creations to be free for all to use, just slap a fat CC0 on it.

i mean, provided you actually want to put in effort that’s called “being a game designer”, it’s perfectly valid to not write code or create assets.
in fact proper market economy dictates that you should charge precisely as much as you can possibly get away with, OP is effectively doing charity for rich people.
stuff like this makes me so pissed that it’s so difficult to get into leadership positions for most people, those with connections and money are free to fail upwards and ruin things, but the average joe can be the genius of our age and be stuck working at starbucks for minimum wage their entire life…
It’s also frustrating that a lot of baffling corporate decisions aren’t even excusable as being for profit, it’s just some executive being a moron and no one stops them! If it was for profit i could at least feel nihilistic about it, but this is just corporations actively choosing to continue letting things happen that benefit no-one.
