That time I started a new job and my first task was “fix bash”…and then I discovered a multi megabyte monstrosity called “bash.sh”
I hate that apt installs something other than debs so much. That’s super annoying. And I agree, I don’t really care but don’t change expectations, if ubuntu thinks snap is better, then transition to snap with its own toolset, don’t bastardize the current toolset.
I don’t have a strong opinion one way or the other, but I love your snap hate 🤣

Python@programming.dev•uv is the best thing to happen to the Python ecosystem in a decade
16·2 months agoLiterally it’s best feature, because then you can download a binary and guarantee that with that binary, you have a working python virtualenv on every platform UV supports.

Python@programming.dev•uv is the best thing to happen to the Python ecosystem in a decade
10·2 months agoUV has a shitload of features. I’ve only ever really used it for making virtualemvs for easier cross platform compatibility, but even just for that, there’s tons of options related to which packages, from where, etc.
tl:dr probably, although differentiating between “deploy” and “dev” installs is the task of the package config which UV doesn’t (to my knowledge) replace in any way.

Pernicious Muffler?
Honestly, it feels like all of that is as plausible as anything else right now
Ah I see now. I meant to imply AMD knows the bubble is going to burst soon and they’re trying to cash in as much as possible now.
I don’t think AMD is on the verge of a technology crisis, but I’d have said the same about Intel way back when so maybe you’re on to something.
Perhaps unconfident in the future demand of their product.
My point entirely. It’ll probably stick though. Ah well, I’m sure script kiddies were called far more derogatory things that didn’t stick either.
What QA? They were all fired over the pandemic and “replaced” with “ai”.
The zero to three people doing all the qa tasks for the 10 to Infinity developers before that never really got a chance to test anything beyond the basic “if this breaks were fucked” stuff anyway though, so it’s not like quality was ever a priority for the people in charge sucking up all the money.

in reality it’s like 70, which is still insane
