  • Cosmic is subjectively the best DE out there. Popos 24 is scheduled for release in a week, it’s awesome.

It’s a Ubuntu fork so it’s easy to follow Ubuntu based guides. Starting with 24 they’re going to stay much more in sync with Ubuntu LTS.

Besides that, modern kernel, out of the box nvidia and disk encryption. Oh and pop is maintained by system76 that ships actual hardware (laptops and desktops) so it’s in their own best interest to have good modern hardware support. It’s a fantastic distro

  • Yeah, voyager does not have any ads or tracking or anything. It’s truly privacy first. In fact the only “analytics” I get are from Apple App Store and Google Play Store download counts etc which I can’t turn off. But if you use F-droid I have literally 0 usage information even crashes :)

Also Voyager has reproducible builds which means you don’t have to trust me. You can verify that the APK was built from a specific release of the source code!

  • Thanks! Also noteworthy, for those instances using lemmy-ansible (should be most) this release should fix video streaming for Safari clients (videos refusing to play), and enable progressive streaming for all pictrs videos (before in chrome/firefox/native players they would have to finish downloading before playing).

For those instances using a custom nginx reverse proxy with caching enabled, please enable the slice module! After upgrading to 0.19.10 feel free to ask me and I can help out to check to make sure it’s working properly.

  • I have no idea what OP is talking about here, it sounds like they’re only judging the app on its animation speed.

In the plex PLAYER, I constantly have to restart my tv, glitches, audio out of sync, black screen etc, stutters randomly. Incredibly annoying when I’m trying to watch something. I haven’t had a single playback issue yet with the jellyfin player. It just works

Edit: oh and how can I forget: in the plex player, sometimes “pause” just… didn’t fucking work?! Lmao. I had to exit the player and re enter. So annoying.
