Bonus points for making Arch users seeth because you call Manjaro, Arch.

With prices like this, it’s kind of performative activism though. It severely limits access and makes it like privacy is a luxury only a few can afford. That’s a weird message to be sending out.
That really sucks and isn’t a good look for Purism.
Their prices are insane, $999.00 for a 11.5" tablet? $799.00 for a mini-PC? Are they fucking mental? Who would buy these?
All those middle managers will be displaced.
Pipewire and Pipewire Jack drop-in replacement. Also with and without a rt kernel. They exhibited the exact same behaviour.
I couldn’t get latency down enough to be usable. Audio on Linux is not good.
That kind of depends on the business, doesn’t it? I’m sure there are plenty of small businesses that don’t even know what a SMB consulting space is. I suspect there a lot of people running businesses off their laptop. You might have a narrow view of what constitutes a small business.
Small businesses that can’t afford a dedicated IT department and pro licenses are gonna love this. I’m sure Linux will pick up more users but the real winner will likely be Apple and Macs.
Until it goes offline for whatever reason after a few years. Then you’re fucked. If it’s in the cloud, it’s on someone else’s computer.
I’d be interested if it was a proper application. But it’s a web app.
Krita rocks! It’s amazing if you’re a freehand artist. I think the brush engine is better than PS. Krita is also fast and can handle large images with multiple layers with no problems.
I don’t think I’m saying anything new here, but if the free software is superior, then it’s easier to make the argument to try it out. If it just has similar functionality, then there’s little incentive to move over. A good example is GIMP being presented as an alternative to Photoshop. It’s not. Not even close. And I hate Adobe and refuse to pay for their crap. Even price isn’t enough. If your job/business depends on a piece of software that cost a lot of moolah Vs. an unknown free application, the free software loses. So you need a superior application plus an easy way to migrate all your data.
Anyone taking bets on how long before we find out some shitty thing Proton is doing that completely undermines it’s supposed privacy?
Reaper DAW, and I have no plans on replacing because I like it. Also Reason, which I do have plans on replacing, but with what I haven’t a clue. Unfortunately, audio continues to lag way behind on Linux and open source. Additionally, VST is unfortunately THE standard for audio plugins, and they are indispensable in audio production.
Just manually trace it using your mouse. It’ll take like 5 minutes, at most.
Again, I agree. But basic HTML is barely coding. I’d just avoid CSS. Anyway, I genuinely wish you the best of luck finding a decent application.
I understand that, I really do. But some stuff just requires you learn a bit to make it work.
If you like or need the latest software, use a rolling distro. I use Manjaro (boo, hiss) and really like it. But if you don’t want the Arch users to beat you up and pants you, I hear Endeavour OS is pretty good.
