Great idea because the merch acts as an advertisement to support the project and create awareness. It’s the main reason why corporations like Adobe are so successful - they have a pervasive marketing campaign. We should do the same and wearing a hat, t-shirt or bag would help do that.

Thank God … I’ve been on Gimp and Scribus for the past 15 years, mainly because I could never afford Adobe products for the little bit of work I needed them for.
I was open source a long time ago because I just couldn’t afford paying for stuff for the little time I needed software. Now I’m happy to be fully open source and even contribute with donations to the projects I like the most. I donate annually now to projects like Wikipedia, Libreoffice, Scribus and Fediverse developers and projects.
This is one criticism I’ll always have with open source supporters … if you want open source alternatives, contribute with donations to them. Give anything you can afford … $1, $2, $10 … because they need money to survive and stay engaged and committed to their project.
If we all just stand aside and take advantage of free open software and not give anything, then we are no better than the corporations we were trying to avoid. Instead of corporations taking advantage of us, we are taking advantage of developers.
So if you want these open projects to live and survive, contribute to them with whatever you got. If we all just gave a dollar each to these projects, no matter what they are, the developers would have more than enough to maintain their work.
And whatever you contribute, it will be far less than the hundreds of dollars annually you would have given to a big corporation that would have just counted your money as profit and not directly contribute or support the actual developers.

Sometimes … usually I just hit a wall because I don’t know enough but I know enough to get myself in trouble … so I just stop, reformat, reinstall and start all over.
About the biggest lesson I’ve learned from Linux is not to mess with too many things unless you want to learn about it and have lots of time in your hands.
Otherwise if you find a good distro for your needs, a stick with it, don’t change it, update and backup regularly.
Never trusted this setup to begin with because I didn’t trust Microsoft and I’m not all that capable or want to take time to sort this stuff out on a regular basis.
So I just setup my ThinkPad laptop with two removable SSDs and I just swap one or the other whenever I need. The drive is easily switched, from power down, remove drive, insert other drive and restart only takes about two minutes.
I’m not going to risk messing up my setup because two operating systems can’t work with one another.
Besides I seldom switch, I use Windows if I really have to about three or four times a year.
Lol … I never update it until I need it because I noticed it is perpetually updating. I only ever use it maybe one or twice a month so I don’t update it until I actually want to use it.
Chrome is the one I see all the freakin time on Linux … sometimes it’s once a week but it’s more like every two weeks they completely update the entire software, get rid of the old and install a new version. It wouldn’t be a big deal but if you’ve tweaked any changes with one version, they get wiped everytime which forces everyone to stick to the software and never change it ever at all.
For the record, I use Firefox and only keep Chrome if I need the browser for any reason … like casting.
Aspiring to becoming and staying a billionaire requires a certain amount of psychopathy because it takes a certain mentality to want to own so much wealth that you’ll never be able to enjoy all of it in a lifetime while at the same time denying or taking away the wealth of others who might need it.
If I had a billion, I’d take a few million and live off the interest and give away the rest and not be bothered by anyone or anything ever again.

I installed them. I installed them all. They’re formatted, every single one of them. And not just the laptops, but the PCs and the tablets too. They’re like animals, and I forced it on them like Windows users. I HATE THEM.

I’ve been on Linux for about 15 years now … I’m no pro and I’ve never really advanced in anything with the terminal
I tried doing stuff years ago but then I came at a crossroad … either spend my life learning the dark arts of the terminal and all the details of how every major system works … reinstall every time I have a new problem that I caused … or just leave everything alone and never tweak or adjust anything.
For the past few years, I just install the latest stable version of anything I use and never bother touching or tweaking anything … never had a problem since.
