I work in a PC repair shop and I run my tool stick on this way. By the way, you can just put a folder in your Ventoy and store non-iso files so you can have portable apps and so on.

• Acronis (can clone to reduced size drives unlike clonezilla which can only clone to equal or bigger)
• MemTest86 & MemTest86+ (+ is the FOSS one. Recommend both because sometimes one won’t work)
• Don’t forget that you can put other stuff in a Ventoy, not just .isos. I have shitlods of utilities in a folder beside all the .isos.

Edit: ADHD did ADHD things. Here’s some more stuff. A lot of it is Windows-centric because that’s what we specialize in. ISOs:

• PC Unlocker (Windows password remover, paid)
• Gandalf’s Windows Preboot (similar to Hirans, but modern. Paid.)

Utilities:

• CrystalDiskInfo (SMART checks and more on SSDs)
• CrystalDiskMark (SSD benchmark)
• FastCopy (Windows copy utility. Free)
• HDTunePro (v5.00 specifically. After this, license binds to a single machine. HDD SMART checks, benchmark, secure erase, sector scans, and more.)
• OCCT (CPU, GPU, Memory, PSU, and other checks and stress tests. Top-tier tool.)
• F6 Drivers (drivers for NVMe detection on some laptops)
• Spacesniffer (visual representation of disk utilization. Similar to WinDirStat, but looks nicer/runs quicker imo. Free.)

Libre Office can save and open .docx/.xlsx etc

Proton is incredible. Linux has come so far in the last couple years for gaming. I’m running Intel/Nvidia (which used to be a big no-no), playing 99% of what I want to play with no issues. If I ever see issues it’s usually a game that uses anti-cheat. Even the vast majority of my games work fine now. Controller support is simple too.

I’m guessing another year an I won’t have Windows in my setup at all.

I work in a computer shop and we put Zorin on machines for some instances, like if it’s a old/low performance machine or if the customer is trying to stick to a strict budget. We haven’t had any come back, and people seem to like it.

Probably a Prius V. Kinda good at most normal things.

I generally agree with your sentiment but I’m calling bullshit on a 300gb install. I work in a computer repair shop and load win11 more than 10x a week. Stock install with 23h2 and all updates, even with a GPU (big driver) is always under 50gb. A loaded down version of Pro with hyper V and a bunch of other shit including office is never even 60gb.

And unused RAM is wasted RAM. I have seen win11 run on 2gb ddr3. As you ask for more RAM, it will unload and make space for the new request.

And yes, I daily Linux and generally prefer it.

I like the terminal but don’t remember all the arguments. I find that clunky. That’s my main issue with it. (I’m open to suggestions if anyone has any)

So I don’t remember the program or even the distro but there is 100% a “Paint” clone that’s all terminal symbols.
