I haven’t seen Linux users fights over distros… Ever. We just have lots of choices, and most of them are awesome.
Long time linux user and tinkerer. Currently working as a devops engineer. Very positive to the idea of decentralized internet platforms. :)

Go back to windows is not an option, it’s a really horrible system. I dont see how people can use it without blowing their brains out.
I didn’t pick them. :)
Yeah it’s even better, I agree. :)
Dev 101 is not followed in real life… Sadly, caring about code quality is difficult or impossible when you work with others.
Most users actually have enjoyed both systemd and pulseaudio for many years now. They are both some of the best technology we have in the Linux world.
No worries :)
But it says in the OP that this thread should be used for posting questions for the AMA?
What are the plans around admin tools?
Instance owners currently gets notified when someone has reported a user for spamming or trolling, but frequently it’s a user that is not on his instance, so he can’t do anything about it. Wouldn’t it be better if instance owners got notified only when they can take actual action (like the user being registered on their instance)?
This is the reaction I get from people too. :)
Yeah many people say that but Ubuntu is not very good in my opinion. Outdated packages, snaps, commercials in the installer and so on. I would pick PopOS any day over that myself. But it’s because I’m really sensitive to those things.
If beginner, use PopOS.
If Linux nerd, use Arch.
That’s my guide. I don’t like any other distros. :)
That the new Jerboa only works with instances on version 0.18 means a lot of users will be unable to use their instance anymore when Play store pushes the new version.
They may also be unable to roll back to previous version since that is not supported by Play store AFAIK.
So yeah, not a great situation to be in. And we won’t hear from those users because they can’t log in anymore.
So a lot of pain may come from this upgrade, instead of happiness. Instance owners can try to upgrade to version 0.18 as soon as possible but then they lose captcha support until 0.18.1 comes out.
Don’t want to complain too much though, since it’s been super hard work for the main devs to get this release out. But yeah, could be some problems up ahead.
Very excited to try cosmos when it comes. :)
Zuckerberg is sick and we should not pay attention to him.
Haha yeah. Well I’m an arch user for at least a decade, and i saw manjaro come… It was very popular in the beginning. Then they started making strange decisions, but I think many people are still happy with it. Otherwise I think endevourOS is doing good. :)
