This sounds like a prank to me, I’ve been using nano for all of my Linux life (10+y) and I’ve never seen this, are we talking about the same nano ?

The original text of this topic has been restored. The moderator action was a mistake and not reflective of the Ubuntu Diversity Policy 6.
As stated within the policy “…we explicitly honour diversity in age, culture, ethnicity, genotype, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, neurotype, phenotype, political beliefs, profession, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, subculture and technical ability.” The Ubuntu community is for everyone.

When you have the Uppercase key switched on, pressing é will result in É. I’m quite sure it also works for ç and whatever
It’s been >6years I’ve dual booted windows alongside Linux. Granted, the windows partition isn’t often used; but never has it erased my Linux out of existence
It is not a kink. It’s a hobby. For the vast majority, at least.

Nano actually shows you the shortcuts all of the time
