  • Apparently the 5700 xt specifically has terrible driver issues. DDU’ing and installing fresh has helped, but hasn’t resolved issues completely. I’ll get driver crashes very often in some games that should have no problems, I’ll get incredibly low fps in others. Not exaggerating, in remnant 2 I got 4 fps, I could count the fps manually. Hunt showdown has similarly terrible performance and will crash my computer within 10 minutes. Helldivers 2 had similar issues, that got way better after DDUing but are now back. I’m sick of it

  • Computer engineering is not comp sci lol

Computer engineering is the hardware level of designing and building computers, it might involve firmware depending on the job and the area but it’s way closer to electrical engineering than software engineering. Software engineering is also very different than computer science.

Software engineering is called that because it is the equivalent of engineering in software. You are engineering and designing a product/system. Computer science is more of the theoretical side, more detailed study of algorithms and math, etc.

What do you think of electrical engineers? Is that “real” enough to be called engineering?

  • Yeah, that statement was a bit naive, but some companies do business ethically, and some throw ethics out the window in pursuit of profits. The latter is basically a requirement for publically traded companies, and still pretty rare among privately owned businesses. I hate to speak in defense of any company but in my opinion valve has been pretty consistently ethical. Don’t take my word for it though, I’m just a random person on the internet, I could have missed some shitty practices.

Anyways my original point was that while of course all businesses are driven by profit, some aren’t driven by it to the exclusion of all else.
