Was 10 actually alright early on in its life, or was I just unaware? I don’t remember any of the advertising and spyware crap back when I first upgraded from 7.
Addendum to 2: never believe that what they say is relevant to what’s actually happening here. You have a lot of faith that the people writing error messages knew what they were doing!

Doesn’t every company offer that? “Yeah we’re really done supporting this, but if you want to spend a million quid a month on it then sure, you can have ultra extra extended support”, then every old company that relies on this for their money-printing machine and can’t be bothered updating their ancient code sends them a blank cheque.

Given that I recently read the intro on Codeberg (which I think is the main public Forgejo instance) and it was very pro-copyleft, I’m surprised this wasn’t already the case! Good news, though.
Careful what you wish for, if Firefox dies now (before alternatives are viable) then Google owns the web and no new browser engines will be able to even get a sniff of a foot in the door!
