It’s ok. I see a tilde. And yes, ~
Shitposter while I tend to two babies. Maybe when I have my life back, I’ll help us get a few more niche communities back?

Not to be nitpicky but those locations are all over the place, lol. I wonder what the actual percentage of programmers need to pivot to slop cleanup duty.

taiyang@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•You've been formally invited to laugh at me troubleshooting my first issue in Linux.23·20 days agoThis was also my first issue in Linux but it turned out my duel boot was somehow screwing things up. Windows broke WiFi for Linux, then when I booted into Windows it was broken there too. I blame Windows because it was right after a series of updates, but I have no idea why it’d impact other independent OS on other drives.
Unfortunately I forgot the solution. It was probably since bios impacting thing, like how they often say to disable fast boot and junk.
taiyang@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•I wonder if this was made by AI or a shit programmer96·2 months agoThis reminds me of how I showed a friend and her company how to get databases from BLS and it’s basically all just text files with urls. “What API did you call? How did you scrape the data?”
Nah man, it’s just… there. As government data should be. They called it a hack.
Yes but wouldn’t you like to sign up for an outlook account? No? Sorry that wasn’t a question, this full screen window has no X and you will comply.
… unless you do the thing that skips it, but man that’s an awful experience.
I’ve seen enough knew high sock posts to know these are not apropos of nothing.
Yup. Fussing around in Desktop mode (aka handheld Arch) got me into it. It was weirdly easy to get Phantasy Star Online Ephinea working with luteix, and that game was easily one of my favorite Deck experiences running on 3W of power lol.
taiyang@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Most programmers just google it anyway18·6 months agoWhen I needed to pick up on some basics, it actually did help but ultimately not as much as actual guides and tutorials written online. This image of a chimera certainly matches the kind of Frankenstein code I was getting.
That said, when I was having some very interesting ideas about making automated code in R, it did make for a good sounding board. You don’t need to Google when everything in R has documentation but you do when you’re combining libraries in unique ways to automate 98% of the stupid shit you do at your data researcher job (e.g. can you look up in our database how many students pick their nose during philosophy class on a Friday?)
taiyang@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Most programmers just google it anyway192·6 months agoI just some a lot of Lemmy are neurodivergent and do in fact require /s.
Which is actually halfway true, the other half being a more international crowd that aren’t on the same page as whatever perspective you’ve got. That said, I got the joke and second you on spending more time with my feet on my desk while the boss pays me for my 20 minutes of work.
I should use this as an excuse to finally get a NAS setup. Maybe.
Yeah, I’m afraid the tech bros cut costs by not saving backups and removing all the old ones. Hell, all our changes are made in prod, no staging allowed here.
taiyang@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•in 2030 GNU/Linux will surely have 90% Market share of desktop computer operating systems (the other 10% beig BSD, RedoxOS and other FLOSS *nix systems)191·7 months agoWe know that it’ll probably be a suicide, as Windows is slowly taking it’s own life as we speak.
This image makes me smile. I’ll just stick to indie stocks, tyvm.
To add, there’s movement in the government to subsidize AI with giant GPU farms (with their own power source, et.). Of course, I am pretty sure they’ll go with it anyway despite it being overkill.
It’s tied to a fair number of retirement accounts so your not alone, and things like this usually even out long term. That said, diversify your investments going forward in case a company folds or is sold off to Elon Musk, etc.
taiyang@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Yet another one switching from Linux to Windows. Here's my experience so far.6·8 months agoIt’s especially nice when you use their special Microsoft store as sometimes they’re kind enough to install an app directly to your smallest drive, multiple times just in case you can’t find it. It even takes over security credentials so you nor anyone else can get rid of the files!
So nice to finally use all of my 516gb SSD, thanks Microsoft!

Or like 95% of my college students. :(
