you, I like you. Let’s bang!
you can run bash scripts in fish. The syntax is
bash ./script.shEdit: I’m being unhelpful/funny. I just read through the fish manual, and it’s so nice and agree that if it was just a bit more bash friendly it would have great uptake
Great for LLM’s though. If someone invents a
tldrutility that feeds man pages into a wood chipper LLM that can spit out examples for my exact usage then I will get down on all fours and blow that LLM until it spews out hot white gasoline all down my face and throat and someone tells me to run but I just look at them steadily, holding the LLM’s shaft in one hand tightly whilst flicking open a lighter with another, and then grin

1·2 months agoI’ve jumped in Nix/Guix many times and always jumped back out. Sometimes you just want to edit a system file without second guessing or rebuilding the system. Same battle as initRC vs SystemD. Sometimes you just want to tinker live, because there are bigger battles elsewhere and going down a productivity sink hole of immutability is not something you can easily explain away at 3am

3·4 months agoInteresting, thanks! I find it weird for it to be assigned to a buffer variable if no initial fixed size is given

9·4 months agomake([] [] byte, 0)Does this make a double nested byte array of size 0?
As in, every element is made up of two iterators (adjacent cell, and then the nested cell), but the first element doesnt exist yet?

It’s exactly where my control key used to be, so I often hit that button and nothing happens, unless Im using a Windows via AWS and suddenly I keep getting copilot springing up.
It’s a really user hostile move knowing that people will accidentally hit that button
the bluetooth pipewire pulseaudio mix could be a bit better.
It’s gotten to the point that my bluetooth headphones will not connect to my laptop because I don’t currently have any media playing.
Load up a youtube video, the audio device springs into life, offers it up as pulseaudio source, who signals to bluez that there is a valid audio profile and suddenly everything connects.
From an efficiency standpoint, yes I get it. From a UX standpoint… please just let my earphones connect when I enable bluetooth from the get go
Some people write their entire codebase within those parentheses.
me. I’m talking about me
In an ideal world, yes. In a locked down world where you have access only to 1/4 the codebase or your job is more ontology-focused, all you have access to might be the JSON. Leaving a comment or two about why a particular value or hierarchy is as it is is sometimes more clear than writing up a seperate README that no one will read
