I mean sure, it was a bit buggy, but holding a 20 year grudge on Risk of Rain seems excessive. Especially considering it came out only 12 years ago.

in general, yes. 404 is a reader-funded tech news site, staffed by a bunch of experienced, professional tech journalists. That said, I don’t blame people for asking for an archive link.

genuinely just trying to clarify! Maybe you were using it for an application that I had not considered, in which it is clunkier. I only use it intermittently for screenshotting random things. At work we use Snagit so I don’t have to lean on the Windows snipping tool so much.

Snipping tool? The one where you hit Win+Shift+S, draw a rectangle, and then it snips to your clipboard? That’s the “unintuitive” snipping tool you’re referring to?

no word suggestion
this is the part i’m struggling with. autocorrect/predict is essential to touch typing, full stop. i am giving it an earnest shot, maybe a hex keyboard will let me type faster than qwerty with predictive, idk. But i remember predictive text being critical to getting used to touch-typing.

great tip, checking it out now

interesting. thanks for the info!

osm seems like a mess. your comment got me poking around my local area to see if they had marked a recent road closure i was aware of. They hadn’t, and the Walgreen’s next to the road was marked as a generic building. I dug into the editing tools, made an account, and made some edits. Then I tried asking OSM to give me directions to that pharmacy, and it just says it can’t find a route. lollll great thanks OSM.
It seems interesting as a hobby to keep up with. Feels like editing Wikipedia articles but you’re getting in on the ground floor, so your individual contribution is way more valuable.

okay now you’re straight up lying so I’m gonna block you. See ya later.

When you create an account and the only thing you post is about Lbry, and the only posts you comment on are your own, it is suspicious. Reddit is plagued with astroturfing like this, and Lemmy is a reddit-like site. It is not unreasonable to be suspicious of an account like yours. If you want to deflect suspicion, go engage with more communities and comment on more posts.

anyone else get suspicious when a post like this comes from an account that was created less than 2 days ago? Idk, FOSS needs devs self-promoting to survive, but i always feel scuzzy when someone sees our community as just a place for promotion and nothing more.

Wow, finally, a feel-good tech story.

Every Shotcut update is a win for the world. Shotcut is already perfect for small-scale video projects that don’t require all the bells and whistles. Every update brings it closer to feature parity with the Premieres and Vegases of the world.

I’m a little lost. Pixelfed is already a decentralized photosharing service, and they already run Pixelfed.social. So what is Loops? An app?

good balance of functionality and privacy. keeps my tabs synced between mobile and desktop. that’s…that’s about it.
It’s astounding the way Republicans will ruin literally everything they touch. They can’t even keep a grant program running without turning it into an extortion racket.
