toothbrush@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Sorry, Mario, but the software is in a different architecture.40·1 month agosadly, there are a lot of important newer x86 patents that are still years off, and new ones are added every few years, so the best you could do next year is a 20 year old chip.
toothbrush@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Linux@lemmy.ml•Christoph Hellwig steps down from maintaining DMA73·5 months agooh wow, no one is left from that disagreement, they both resigned.
Alright, fair. I was more refering to the content of the message, not the (botched) metaphore of maintainers as a force of order.
I read the “thin blue line” email and it seems… reasonable and sensible? And seeing how he is so appaled by it makes me question his judgement a bit.

hmmm, did you try switching(vendor change) all system packages to pacman? (an option in the yast software installation module when you select the repository)

toothbrush@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•So i randomly found this on enlightenment (linux desktop) mastodon page and i decided to post it here.6·8 months agoI used it as my main DE a few years ago, its great! Really cool UI, completely different to all other DE’s but it makes sense, and it has some cool stylings like for example virtual desktops icons being the actual desktops, just really tiny. The bugs, however, kept piling up, and it (segmentation fault)ed too often, so I had to abandon it. Last I heard, the reason it doesn’t get major dev work anymore is that its really hard to work with.
Tuxkart is really great! One of the really good FOSS games, it has multiplayer and it even supports the wiimote :)
toothbrush@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto Free and Open Source Software@beehaw.org•[discussion] Delayed Open Source license -- yet another grift or finally sustainable opensourcing?11·11 months agoLots of “source available” licenses have a clause that a few years after development stops it becomes open source. Thing is, software with those clauses have existed for years now, and I dont know of a single case where it actually came into effect. Its very easy to have a minor patch every four years to prevent the license change, and if the devs of the software actually wanted to open source it, they would have done so whenever they wanted instead of only promising it. Clauses like that are supposed to combat abandonware, but abandonware does not usually happen because someone forgot the software existed, its a conscious choice to not release the source.

I hope it will be upstreamed, or else were back to square one with linux mobile hardware support if they stop working on it!

With the cinnamon thing it sounds like cinnamon mangles something while running, but you would still have this problem if you only ever installed cinnamon, so… ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

I dont know if it exists in plasma but its an option in enlightenment if that helps?
Sure. The steam version is easiest, just install steam, get the game through steam and it should just work. Heres a website that tracks compatibility with linux through proton, valve’s solution to running windows games, its installed by default when you get steam: https://www.protondb.com/app/389730
