Also I changed to Manjaro and Steam still refuses to download quickly. So much for “just working”.

I’ve been Googling for hours, and people say to disable IPv6 and install DNSMASQ. Neither fixed it.

Honestly might just go back to Windows. I can’t continue to waste my life troubleshooting the most basic shit in the world. It’s not like my entire PC is slow, it’s just Steam.

Perhaps I will try Linux again for the 80th time in a few months to see where it sits then.

You probably fucked something up and are blaming Linux not “just working.” I’ve installed many distros on many machines, my servers, my laptops, my desktop I’m on right now… they all connected at full speeds. In other words, it just works.

My browser getting the full speed shows that it’s not my connection being set to half duplex.

My web browser gets the full 1900Mbps.

Linux users constantly talk about how Linux just works and Windows is garbage, but then half these comments are talking about how you should buy an entirely different computer to make Linux run with FEWER issues.

Windows may have it’s problems, but I don’t need to buy an entirely new PC to make it work. AMD, Nvidia, Intel, doesn’t matter. It just works.

I’ve actually been playing a bunch of Vintage Story to fill the void, but when I go back to Minecraft I’ll give those a try!

I’ve played so much Minecraft that I have everything down to a science.

Like quickly making a wooden pickaxe, mining exactly how much cobble I need for a furnace and a stone pickaxe, and how to find coal and iron in less than 5 minutes.

Wood and stone tools, outside the two pickaxes, are skipped entirely.

Before the end of the first night I am almost entirely decked out in iron stuff.

Farming cows for bookshelves for enchanting is quick and easy, and then getting fortune 3 and looting 3 pretty much makes the game easy mode. You print ores and food.

Not to mention you can get mending from a villager easily. Just pick up and put down the job station until they give you mending. It’s not skill, it’s just luck. You can get it in less than 2 minutes if you’re lucky. Now you’ll never have to worry about anything ever breaking again. You can also get fortune and looting this way as well, removing the need to waste time and materials on the enchanting table.

It’s sad. I wish I could erase my knowledge of it, and play Minecraft how I used to. By savoring my enchanted items, creaming my pants at the sight of diamonds, and grinding hard for food.

Just checked. All of the “cheap” ones require you to order 2+, and then have insane shipping costs. The rest are $100-120 CAD.

I don’t think these things will ever be affordable. People who want one badly, will pay the money, and everyone knows it. No need to sell them at MSRP.

Oh that’s great! So why doesn’t my WiFi, Bluetooth, Speakers, or trackpad work? Why do I need to spend hours running terminal commands, plugged into Ethernet (since WiFi isn’t working), just for none of them to actually make my speakers work?
