I’ve always liked their desktop. (As someone who quite likes the way macOS works).
I’ll have to see what the state of this on Arch is. I don’t much care for Debian anymore. Glad to see eOS is still going.

Nerd, truck driver, and kinda creeped that you’re reading this.

Clicking download on the site opened up a box that had a magnet link option. You can add that to your client. It’s the magnet icon next to the download button (after you click “download” on the choose your price page). I’ve included the magnet link below:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:d52eea45cd83f947983192e1ce2ef723ce992fec&dn=elementaryos-8.0-stable.20241122rc.iso&tr=https%3A%2F%2Fashrise.com%3A443%2Fphoenix%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fopen.demonii.com%3A1337%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3A80%2Fannounce&ws=http%3A%2F%2Fnyc3.dl.elementary.io%2Fdownload%2FMTczMjY3NTQ4Mg%3D%3D%2Felementaryos-8.0-stable.20241122rc.iso
Immich (Photo backup), Vaultwarden (FOSS Biwarden server for passwords)
Such a decisive question. I wouldn’t say there’s necessarily a “best”. Mint is an EXCELLENT choice. So too would be Fedora (Fedora KDE edition I’d recommend for most) or OpenSuSe Tumbleweed.
Just pick what looks decent to you and give it a shot.
Can I have a moment of your time to speak about our Lord and Savior, 3-2-1 Backups?
Probably not but hey I like doing it.
Just an FYI Auth and Photos use the same server program. I think you can already self host Auth just point the app at your Photos server.
Yep. I’m selfhosting it now. Works great but selfhosting isn’t straightforward yet, still the best Authy/Google/Microsoft Authenticator drop in replacement with sync.
I’ve played Clone Hero on Linux, works great
Agh Plex always rubs me the wrong way… It acts like closed source software as much as is possible. Went with Jellyfin and it’s been great. But haven’t tried music.
It’s a thing in macOS, however it doesn’t infinitely grow lmao
I would just do a minimal reinstall if you had used this as a personal computer OS before
And also take the battery out
Oh shit I didn’t realize they were trans
Pick whatever looks best. It’s not a big of a deal as we make it out to be.
Fedora KDE is also an awesome choice though if you must choose something else.
I’m more of a control-R kinda guy
I mean I find it hard to believe but this level of argumentativeness is silly and toxic. Why would they lie? Maybe they have some edge case or misconfiguration. Maybe they got unlucky and ran into some kind of breaking bug on their specific system. Shit happens.
Interesting. I use an immutable distro (Fedora Kinoite) so basically everything I use outside of the apps bundled with the OS are flatpaks. Other than learning a few things about FlatPak permissions, file locations, etc, it’s been completely painless.
I wouldn’t even mind snap so much but the day I found out apt would automatically use snaps instead for some packages with no easy opt out was a step too far.
Drop it, snaps are dead. All hail FlatPak.
