According to Beehaw’s instances page, it is currently federated with feddit.org. Your comments showing up on beehaw itself, and the beehaw user responding to them with you able to see them, demonstrates that both instances are federated.

Beehaw has problematic users? Like on average? I haven’t seen that myself.
Beehaw is defederated with Hexbear and Lemmygrad.
Most instances are federated with Lemmy.ml (including yours), the only one I know of that isn’t is Lemmy.cafe.
